The test phase of a one-year trial for improving consumer information on packages starts in France on 1 July. Consumers will be informed about the environmental effects of products at the POS, in the product catalogue or on the package.
Several cosmetic companies are taking part in this trial, including L’Occitane en Provence, L’Oréal with its Garnier brand, the Brazilian brand Natura, and Weleda. Biodegradable packages of renewable raw materials such as those from the company Leoplast make it possible to positively influence the environmental balance of the products, according to information from the company. This leads to a noticeable saving of fossil energy sources and a significant CO2 reduction.
