Studies by market researcher RNCOS show that U.S. consumers are increasingly receptive to beauty food (beauty from within) and food supplements for anti-aging.
Nutricosmetics or cosmeceuticals are finding more and more customers in the United States. According to RNCOS, the U.S. market for nutricosmetics will grow by 11 % between 2007 and 2012. Whereas sales are already developing well in Japan and Europe, this market segment is still in its infancy in the USA, according to the study ‘US Cosmetic & Toiletries Market Analysis’.
The increased demand is currently generated mainly by young men and women, the report says. The study ‘Nutricosmetics: A Global Strategic Business Report’ from Global Industry Analysts (GIA) forecasts growth of 14 % for the coming years and estimates that the global market for nutricosmetics will reach about 4.24 billion US dollars by 2017. GIA sees the cause of the rising demand mainly in the aging society and the search for alternatives to cosmetic surgery.
