Spain: Almond production 2011/12 will be superior to the previous years

Some 11% more than the average of the last 5 years

Estimates from the National Table of Dried Fruit, integrated by agricultural organizations ASAJA, COAG, UPA, Agricultural Food Cooperatives and the Spanish national Association of Dry Fruits and Carob Producers Organizations (Asociación Española de Organizaciones de Productores de Frutos Secos y Algarrobas- AEOFRUSE).

The National Table of Dried Fruits, made a estimation of almond production and had as a result a harvest prediction of 46,859 tons of grain almond.

In general will be is a good harvest, with a production growth of almost 24%, regarding the bad harvest of last campaign. Despite some areas that were affected by frosts, moreover the early varieties. Rain also affected some species during flowering.
