Biocontrol of plant pathogens in sustainable agriculture

Following the meeting of the Phytopathogens WG in Graz, Austria, 7-10 June 2010, the upcoming meeting will be held in Reims, France.  The workshop “Biocontrol of plant pathogens in sustainable agriculture” will take place from 24 to 27 June 2012.

The EU directive 2009/128/EC, establishing a framework action to achieve the sustainable use of pesticides, requires that by 14 December 2012, Member States communicate their National Action Plans. The directive clearly mentioned that “sustainable biological, physical and other non-chemical methods must be preferred to chemical methods if they provide satisfactory pest control”.

This workshop aims to stimulate discussions on how biocontrol of plant pathogen could contribute in making agriculture more sustainable with a special focus on what tools can provide for the fulfilment of the EU directive. Therefore contributions with new results and innovative approaches in this context are welcome. Manuscripts should be sent to this email address before 1 May 2012.  More information on the workshop is available here
